Boorman Equine Bodyworks
Comfort and balance for your equine athlete.
About me
The launching of Boorman Equine Bodyworks during the COVID period of 2020 represents the fulfillment of a log held personal aspiration.
When I was a child, and through my junior years, I was always closely involved with horses. Our family situation required for me to be a working student in order to be able to participate in competition, and through the long hours and quiet moments spent with horses at the barn I developed a deep appreciation for their empathy, stoicism and dignity. I aspired to be a groom to be better able to spend significant time in their quiet companionship. However, that path looked different in the 80s than today, and I chose a more pragmatic career path.
During my college years I stayed connected to horses through intermittent riding opportunities and ended up spending a few years at a prominent fox hunting farm in central North Carolina.
I took a break from equestrian pursuits when my family was young, but as my daughter began to ride and we bought her a first pony, I started riding again, competing occasionally in the Adult Amateur Hunters. I enjoyed watching my daughter’s growing equestrian career as she took a working student position in a nationally competitive barn. Through her experience, I have had more chances to travel to top shows and interface with and learn from barns and trainers who exemplify the best in horse care and management.
In the hectic yeas of a corporate career and growing children I often thought of my early aspiration to work in the equine industry. As our lives continue to evolve, I determined I would start my break-away from corporate life to achieve that long-held dream. In 2020 I started my formal training in equine anatomy and a variety of equine bodywork modalities. As I learned and experimented on my own and friends’ horses, I was astonished at how communicative and receptive horses are, and how impactful bodywork can be on their demeanor and performance. My ongoing work with a wide variety of client horses continues to convince me of the impact of this kind of work. I take sincere joy in applying what I’ve learned - building the connection with your horses to help identify and work through soreness and restrictions, allowing them to be happier, more balanced and connected.
I feel incredibly honored to work with these magnificent creatures – I love what I do and the horses I work with seem to love it too.
